about
"Exile" is Nicholas Dante's hypnotic new single, which is the realization that bruises might fade, but the mental pain and trauma will always remain. With its silky and hypnotizing instrumentation and haunting vibe, the track is very reminiscent to FKA Twigs, Arca, and Banks’ ‘III’ album.
Nicholas Dante's note to the fans:
"tonight is the night my most personal song that i've ever made comes out. i'm nervous... scared.. and a little bit shy especially when talking about it so openly as the topic is something that i never really expressed. tonight changes that. it's been 3 years since i cut off all connections to my abusive father. since then i've been healing and processing what exactly happened during my tumultuous childhood/teenage years.
though i am not 100% healed and still experience setbacks on my mental health because of it, i wanted to take the chance to say if you're experiencing anything: especially abuse and neglect, speak out. YOU'RE NOT ALONE. my father shunned and silenced me from ever speaking up about the shit he put me through. and because of that, i never had the strong relationships that i have now, and i feel truly blessed to be in a place where i can heal, grow, be accepted for who i am and loved for it.
my dms are always open to anyone experiencing any hardships and know that i am there for you through whatever happens. i love you. and thank you so much for supporting me. i hope you like the new song ❤️ "
lyrics
I built every corner of my kingdom
Took years for me to lay out every stone
I made walls to keep out your opinion
But you wanna climb yourself up on my throne
No I don’t owe you
You’re forgetting that I’m stronger and I know you
You’re so unworthy
Should be on your knees and begging me for mercy
Used to think that loving you could fix you
I was so naive
You spent so long telling me I need you
Taking life from me
But now you’re in exile
Ohhhh exile, exile, exile
Now you’re in exile
Ohhhh exile, exile, exile
I paid every price that you put on me
Fought with demons you put in my head
Hiding all these battle scars you gave me
Now I’m left with pain, and the words that you said
No I don’t owe you
You’re forgetting that I’m stronger and I know you
You’re so unworthy
Should be on your knees and begging me for mercy
Used to think that loving you could fix you
I was so naive
You spent so long telling me I need you
Taking life from me
But now you’re in exile
Ohhhh exile, exile, exile
Now you’re in exile
Ohhhh exile, exile, exile
But now you’re in exile
Ohhhh exile, exile, exile
Now you’re in exile
Ohhhh exile, exile, exile
